On Friday 3 February 2017, the European Political and Administrative Studies Department of the College of Europe welcomed the key players in the negotiation of the “Air Passengers Rights” Regulation, a proposal aiming to discuss air carriers’, airports’ and passengers’ interests. This hotly debated and ongoing file was discussed for four weeks between the students.
This exciting conference provided the students the opportunity to present the outcome of their simulated negotiation on Air Passenger Rights to EU policy makers.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions about the status of the real negotiations and to debate with:
- Mrs Ursula BAUSCH (Secretariat of the TRAN Committee, European Parliament);
- Mrs Monique DE SMET (Director of EU Affairs, IATA);
- Mrs Patrycja GAUTIER (Senior Enforcement Officer, BEUC);
- Mr Henrik HOLOLEI (Director General, DG MOVE, European Commission);
- Mr Pascal LUCIANI (Transport attaché, Permanent Representation of France);
- and Mr .Josh POSANER (Reporter at Politico Europe).
On Friday 27 January 2017, the students also had the honour of welcoming Commissioner Violeta BULC. The Commissioner delivered an introductory speech on her vision of current European transport policies and addressed the ongoing Simulation Game file.
