The Re-Inventing Europe Youth Conference aims to bring together politicians, academics and young leaders to discuss the most pressing topics of European politics.

Shaping the Future: Why a Youth Conference at the College of Europe?

The aim of the “Re-Inventing Europe” Youth Conference is to bring together politicians, academics, business and young leaders in a unique setting with the view to provide a platform for dialogue about the future of Europe. The idea of creating an innovative discussion forum for young people was born in March 2013 by former students of the College of Europe. In the same year, the annual Youth Conference was held for the first time and attracted attention from across Europe. Today, the Re-Inventing Europe Youth Conference in Bruges is one of the most renowned youth events on the continent.

This year’s edition will take place on 21 October 2017 at the College of Europe in Bruges. Various high-level stakeholders will be present to discuss cutting-edge solutions to the challenges ahead of the European Union. The overarching theme of the conference will be: "#Europ@? Politics and society in the digital age". This project builds on an impressive network of universities, think tanks, foundations, and sponsors. Our prestigious partners—past and present—include the Bertelsmann Stiftung, EuropaNova, Febelfin, Freshfields, Microsoft, Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV), VoteWatch and Think Young

Programme

This year’s Re-Inventing Europe Youth Conference will follow the format of the previous years and consists of two keynote addresses and four panel discussions. However, as the conference project will celebrate its fifth anniversary, the conference team will ensure a special format with top-notch topics and interactive discussions with the audience. Past distinguished speakers of this conference project include Herman VAN ROMPUY, Xavier BETTEL, Enrico LETTA, Miro CERAR, Euclid TSAKALOTOS, Yves LETERME, Pierre MOSCOVICI, Didier REYNDERS, Oliver BÄTE (Allianz), Erika MANN (Facebook), Daniel GROS (CEPS), and many more. Please consult our programme for the most recent updates at www.reinventing-europe.eu

Involving the Young Generation

A debate on the future of the continent requires the input from the young generation. Being aware of the College of Europe’s reputation as a graduate institute for Europe’s future leaders, we call our project a Youth Conference and invite the young generation to participate and share its visions about the future of Europe. Therefore, the panel discussions will be shaped by young leaders and extensive social media coverage of the conference will be our main platform to share information and to discuss new ideas.
