"The Eastern Partnership Network" student team of the College of Europe is organizing a panel discussion on the currently developing Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Everyone, who is interested in the European Neighbourhood Policy, the Eastern Partnership, the EU relations with the regional actors are welcome to participate.

Speakers:

  1. Cavid AĞA, Open Caucasus Media & Abzas Media Reporter, founder of SUSMA, based in Istanbul
  2. Raffi ELLIOTT, Canadian-Armenian Political Risk Analyst & columnist at The Armenian Weekly, based in Yerevan
  3. Ani MEJLUMYAN, Investigative journalist, Senior Correspondent at Eurasianet, based in Yerevan
  4. Markéta KUTILOVÁ, Journalist, reporter of War in Syria, ISIS, and migration to Europe, based in Czech Republic

By having this diverse panel, we want to make sure that all sides of the story are represented in the discussion. In this 1-1.5h session, we would like to focus on a few points :

  • Challenges of reporting of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
  • Why is it so different from & similar to other conflicts?
  • Building a conflict stakeholder map
  • Talking about the most popular hypothesis
  • How has the narrative of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution changed in 30 years and where it is now?
  • Limiting citizens' rights to be informed, blocking access to the Internet and Social Media as a tool for propaganda
  • What's the role of social media in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict reporting?

The session will be moderated by a student of the International Relations & Diplomacy Studies Department and Coordinator of the "Eastern Partnership Network", student team Viktorya MURADYAN.

All participants will have a chance to ask questions. We highly encourage you to prepare your questions in advance.

As all the panellists are extremely busy because of the continuously evolving and unpredictable situation, we ask you to connect 10 minutes earlier to start on time.

Registration is mandatory. The deadline is Tuesday October 6th at midnight.
