The College of Europe, with the support of student representative Iryna LAGODNA, launched a big photo contest open to the students, alumni and members of staff.
There were 5 different categories:
- College of Europe Bruges campus;
- College of Europe academic experience;
- College of Europe student life;
- Bruges: the cradle of the College;
- Creative art
We asked five people to be part of the jury and to select their 3 favorite pictures per category: Director of Studies Professor Phedon NICOLAIDES, our graphic designer Benedikt LALOO, the academic assistant Sofia LOPEZ, our student representative César GIMENO and one of our former night watchmen and local artist Marcel VLAMYNCK. Out of the selection made by the jury members, local photographer Silvie BONNE then choose the winning photograph for each category.
In adition, all submitted photographs were uploaded to the College of Europe Facebook page for the "Public voting prize". Everybody could cast their vote by "liking" the pictures they liked most. The idea was to capture in a photograph: what makes Bruges and the College of Europe so unique? What memories does one have and what pictures make one dream? Because a picture is worth a thousand words.
During the traditional Christmas drink organised by the Student Affairs Office where students, members of staff and host families gathered to wish each other a good end of 2016 and all the best for a healthy, successful and fruitful 2017, Rector MONAR awarded the winners: Manuel PEIX CASTIELLA, Gabriela DOINA, Rémi COLLOMBET-GOURDON, Sabine DE ROUS, Tamar KUSIKASHVILI and Fanny ABOUZEID.
We awarded the winners with nice gifts and their photographs will be displayed all over the College of Europe premises. We are looking forward to next year's edition.
