College of Europe student Nick LIGTHART is co-author of a high-level research paper on the ECB

Mr Nick LIGTHART, a student at the College of Europe (Bruges campus), is co-author of a high-level research paper with his former professor of Princeton University, Professor Ashoka MODY.

The paper compares the monetary policy responses to the Crisis by the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank (ECB). It argues that the US approach has been much more aggressive and proactive, while the ECB failed to provide stimulus when needed, and as a result the Eurozone might slip into a low-inflation trap.

The paper is accessible on Princeton.edu. A short version of the article was also published on VoxEU.org.
