Dr Sebastian STEINGASS at the ECPR General Conference 2019

From 5 to 7 September 2019, Dr Sebastian STEINGASS, Academic Assistant in the European Interdisciplinary Studies Department, participated in the General Conference of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), which took place at the University of Wrocław, Poland. The ECPR is an independent scholarly association, established in 1970. Today with around 350 institutional members across around 50 countries, it is one of the leading associations in political science worldwide.

The ECPR’s General Conference remains Europe’s largest annual gathering of political scientists. Due to the size of the conference, the programme is very diverse and it ranges from cross-cutting issues of the discipline such as gender, academic freedom and teaching to thematic sections covering international public administration, populism, biopolitics, political theory, international migration, EU governance and its legitimacy and many others.

Dr Sebastian STEINGASS, presented a paper, co-authored with Dr Alexandra-Maria BOCSE from the London School of Economics and Political Science, provisionally entitled "Methods and data collection in researching transnational policy networks in contemporary EU politics". The research paper analyses qualitative methods for the study of policy networks in the EU and provides advice for improving research practice. The findings of Dr STEINGASS and Dr BOSCE were presented in a panel on "Social Networks and International Public Administrations".

The next iteration of the ECPR General Conference will take place in August 2020 at the University of Innsbruck.
