EU Institutions and Policies Course for GCC Officials in Riyadh

From 23 to 27 October 2016, the College of Europe Development Office implemented a tailor-made course for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in the premises of the GCC Secretariat in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
This one-week course was delivered in Arabic and English and was attended by 25 GCC Officials coming from different departments of the Secretariat.

The course was divided into three blocks. The first block, delivered by Prof. Dr Bichara KHADER, offered an overview of the European integration process with the objective of pointing out the main similarities and differences between the EU and the GCC regional integration processes. Dr Abdullah BAABOOD covered the second block, which tackled the EU-Arab relations, and more concretely, the specificities of the EU-GCC relation. The seminar ended with a Negotiation Skills workshop, animated by Mr Karel DE BEER.

Enriching debates between the trainers and the participants took place throughout the whole week, making the course an opportunity to foster mutual knowledge and understanding between Europe and the Gulf region.
