On 26 June 2016, the Dean of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University (Medford, MA), Admiral (ret.) James G. STAVRIDIS, PhD, and the Rector of the College of Europe (Bruges/Natolin), Professor Dr. Dr. Jörg MONAR, signed a framework agreement on the establishment of a new joint degree programme ‘Master in Transatlantic Affairs’ (MTA). The Fletcher School – the oldest exclusively graduate school of international affairs in the United States – and the College of Europe – the world’s first higher education institute of postgraduate studies in European affairs – will join forces to offer a select group of graduate students the exciting opportunity to enjoy their respective academic offerings and expertise by spending one year on both sides of the Atlantic. The prospective MTA students will also carry out a high-level internship as part of the curriculum. For both schools the MTA, projected to be launched in the academic year 2017-18, is the first joint degree programme and a part of the development of a strategic partnership.
The signing ceremony took place at the Natolin campus of the College of Europe.
