Human Rights training in the Republic of Moldova

The College of Europe Development Office will deliver training for the staff of the Ombudsman Office and the Council on the Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality (also known as Equality Council) in the Republic of Moldova.

The learning activities will take place as part of the project “Supporting National Human Rights Institutions as per International Treaty Bodies and Universal Periodic Review Recommendations: Human rights training for National Human Rights Institutions in the Republic of Moldova”.

The training courses, training of trainers and coaching are tailored to develop the capacity of the staff of these two bodies. Special attention will be paid to strengthening protection of human rights of people belonging to minority, excluded and/or discriminated groups: people living with HIV, people with physical and mental disabilities, those from different ethnic and linguistic groups, and LGBT.

The College of Europe, engaged in the project since November 2015, and its team of experts assessed the needs of the beneficiaries by carrying out a training needs analysis (TNA). Preparations are now being made for the delivery of twelve short training modules on human rights standards and principles, which will be rolled out from March until July this year.

This project is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-funded and implemented by the UNDP Moldova and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), in cooperation with the Ombudsperson Office and Equality Council.
