Latest academic and research activities by Dr Paweł KOWAL

On 3 September 2015, Dr Paweł KOWAL, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Natolin (Warsaw) campus of the College of Europe, delivered a lecture before the screening of the film "The Warsaw Rising", organized by the Polish Culture Society and the Polish Canadian Congress in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The title of his lecture was "Quo vadis Ukraine?".

That same afternoon, Dr KOWAL presented a paper on Ukraine’s perspectives, in the context of the Eastern policy of the EU, to the Congress of Ukrainians in Canada and its guests.

 

On 9 September 2015, Dr KOWAL participated in the Economic Forum at Krynica, Poland. He took part in the discussion on East-West relations in the new geopolitical context in an expert panel including: Mr Bruno LETE (Belgium), Coordinator for Foreign Policy and Security of the German Marshall Fund of the United States; Mr Igor SUTYAGIN (UK), Expert on Russo-American relations from the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI); Naval Commander Mr Francisco RUIZ GONZALEZ (Spain), Professor at the Faculty of Strategy at the Spanish Military Academy; Mr Marius LAURINAVICIUS (Lithuania), Security Expert from BAFF at the Center for European Policy Analysis; and Mr Valentyn DIDYCH, Deputy to the Supreme Council of Ukraine.

 

In Kyiv on 10 and 11 September 2015, Dr Paweł KOWAL participated in the annual Yalta European Strategy conference. It was devoted to the international aspects of the political situation in Ukraine, problems of energy security and Ukraine’s relations with the EU and NATO. Among the participants were politicians, journalists and scholars, including the President of Ukraine, Mr Petro POROSHENKO, along with Mr Javier SOLANA, Mr Aleksander KWASNIEWSKI, Mr Gideon RACHMAN, Mr Aleksander RAHR, Mr Elmar BROK and Mr Andreas ASLUND.
