Launch of the IBERDROLA Manuel Marín Chair for European Energy Policy (09/10)

On 9 October 2018, the creation of the IBERDROLA Manuel Marín Chair for European Energy Policy was announced during the Opening Ceremony of the Manuel Marín Promotion.

During this event, which marks the formal opening of the academic year, special attention was devoted to the life and achievements of the patron of the promotion Manuel MARÍN, alumnus of the College of Europe and chairman of Fundación Iberdrola España, and the creation of the Energy Chair named after him. 

The Chair was announced to the students of the Manuel Marín Promotion, professors, staff and invited guests of the College of Europe by Mr Íñigo MÉNDEZ DE VIGO, President of the Administrative Council of the College of Europe, after the opening address by Mr Antonio TAJANI, President of the European Parliament, and a word by the Rector of the College on the life of Manuel MARÍN.

A reception was held afterwards in the presence of the speakers of the opening ceremony as well as the family of Manuel MARÍN.

Dr Dirk BUSCHLE will, as Chairholder of the IBERDROLA Manuel Marín Chair for European Energy Policy, over the course of the coming years, teach, research and organise debates on European energy policy. Activities will include a course implemented in the Department of European Political and Governance Studies of the College, conferences and lectures organised in both the College and in Brussels, study trips to energy facilities, and more.
