Report on Minority rights in South East Europe in collaboration with the Council of Europe

As part of the Council of Europe-EU joint programme “Promoting Human Rights and Minority Protection in South East Europe”, the College of Europe has been managing a research project assessing the level of awareness of minority rights mechanisms in the region as well as the level of success of 36 local projects funded by the programme.

A first cross country report (on project assessment) was published in July 2015. The second cross country report has now been published on the Council of Europe website. This second report is a baseline study on the state of minority rights in South East Europe. It specifically assesses local stakeholders’, national minorities’ and other relevant authorities’ awareness of international and national instruments on minority rights, including the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages.

The report can be consulted here.
