Commemorating International Holocaust Remembrance Day at the College of Europe

On Monday, February 17th, 2025, the College of Europe community came together at our Bruges campus to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

We had the privilege of welcoming Baroness Regina SLUSZNY, a Holocaust survivor who shared her powerful testimony as a hidden child during World War II. Alongside her, we were joined by Katharina VON SCHNURBEIN, European Commission Coordinator on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life, and Emma HALLALI, President of the European Union of Jewish Students, who provided valuable insights into the ongoing fight against antisemitism and the importance of preserving Jewish life in Europe.

A sincere thank you to our speakers for their invaluable contributions and to all our students and colleagues who found the time to join us today for such a special commemoration. As we remember the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution, let’s continue to reflect on our shared past, honor the voices of survivors, and stand united in the fight against antisemitism in all its forms!
