Communication Officer - Bruges campus

The College of Europe (Bruges campus) is seeking applications for the position of Communication Officer with a starting date around the 21st of August 2023.

About the College: Welcome to the laboratory of European Renaissance

The College is the oldest postgraduate institute of European studies. It has been training professionals and leaders in European affairs since 1949. It is operating through two campuses in Bruges (Belgium) and Natolin (Poland), hosting respectively around 340 and 130 students from over 50 nationalities every year.

It aims to be a place for forward-looking thinking in European affairs, offering high level education to its students, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to help them address, as future leaders, the challenges Europe is facing.

About the position: a multifaceted communications role

The position of Communication Officer fits in a small and growing communication team of three people within the Communication, External Relations and Events Office of the Bruges Campus, highly interconnected and supported by members of other services and offices.

The College of Europe is currently renewing its communication strategy, and the job holder will be given the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of this new strategy under the leadership of the Director of Communications, External Relations, and Events.

This position would suit a multi-faceted communication professional with a strong interest in European affairs and education.

Job requirements and person specification

Criteria we will give be looking for:

  • A master's degree in fields like Communication Studies, Languages or European Studies or similar level of professional and voluntary experiences
  • An excellent level of English and French (oral and written)
  • High attention to detail, combined with a creative mind
  • Good project management and organisational skills (incl. reliability and ability to handle competing priorities)
  • Professional experience in communications
           - in particular: social media management, copywriting, community management, digital marketing
  • Familiarity with the College of Europe
  • Basics of graphic design, video editing as an asset

Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Development and implementation of targeted digital marketing and outreach campaigns for the College's academic programmes
  • Management of and contributions to all forms of communications such as mailings, social media, printed material, and merchandising
  • Maintenance and update of website content within a broader strategic framework (as a member of the web editorial committee and in liaison with the technical webmaster)
  • Further contributions to all aspects of the work of the Communications office including support for the organisation of small-scale events

The successful candidate will be available to carry out their duties in Bruges, with limited homeworking possibilities (according to the College of Europe’s policy).
