EG conference - Prospects for a European Society: Insights from the study of Euro-couples

In the framework of the EG conference “Global Europe in the real new millennium” that started last year, Juan DIEZ MEDRANO, Professor of Sociology at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, presented and discussed his work with Ruby GROPAS, visiting Professor at the College. You can find a summary of the reflection he propose: Prospects for a European Society

Juan DIEZ MEDRANO presented the main results of his book “Europe in Love. Binational Couples and Cosmopolitan Society” (2020) but also reflected on what they entail in light of contemporary developments and the post-pandemic world.

The setting of the talk was intimist on the “Oxbridge” model, discussing over a glass of port and Bruges chocolate. Therefore, the number of spot available was very limited.

Global Europe in the real new millennium

The conference series of the European General Studies Programme is a three-year conference series that aims to investigate the far-reaching consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Entitled “Global Europe in the new (real) millennium. The EG interdisciplinary dialogue on European integration in the post-pandemic world”, it aims to initiate an interdisciplinary dialogue with European intellectuals on the future of European societies and the potential changes that are taking place.

This conference will be the 6th organised in this framework. We previously had as guests: Patrick PASTURE, Robert BOYER, Philippe POCHET & Laurence BADEL, Jonathan WHITE. Some of the conferences are available on spotify.
