Great performance of College students at the Model United Nations in London

On 20-22 February 2026, a multinational group of 12 students from the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies represented the College of Europe with great success at the 27th edition of the London International Model United Nations (LIMUN) Conference. Several months of preparation for this activity, with the active support of two Academic Assistants, resulted in an excellent performance by the students who were involved in researching different topics, drafting position papers, working documents and resolutions as well as engaging in negotiations with other delegates from across the world on the premises of King’s College London.

Elise BARONE represented the United Kingdom at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); Borja DE PEDRO SARASOLA represented Afghanistan at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC); Maria Teresa FAILLI (IT) represented Sweden at the ‘Special Summit’ committee; Arno MINASIAN and Oscar ZONNEVELD co-represented the United Kingdom at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC); Manuel Davy NTSOUMOU represented George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer and Member of Parliament for Tatton, in the UK House of Commons; Sophie O’RIORDAN represented Italy in the European Council; José Antonio PÉREZ DE PAZ represented José Antonio Paéz in the ‘historical crisis’ committee on the liberation of Gran Colombia; Aymeric POCHAT KRIŽAJ represented Brazil at the Organisation of American States (OAS); Margot ROBINS represented Angus Robertson, Member for Moray, in the UK House of Commons; Matilde SILVA represented a judge in the International Criminal Court (ICC); and Ana TARANCÓN FERNÁNDEZ represented Norway at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCR). All students made a remarkable impression, also thanks to their great team spirit. Sophie O’RIORDAN was officially lauded with an Honourable Mention.
