Friends of the Balkans' debate the Macedonia naming dispute

On 2 February 2018, the 'Friends of the Balkans' group organized its very first debate about the naming dispute between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Our colleagues Alexandros POLITIS and Stefan RISTOVSKI, from Athens and Skopje respectively, introduced the topic giving a historic overview of the naming dispute that has been lasting since the break up of Yugoslavia and why this dispute still causes massive protests throughout Greece.

In lively debate, students had the opportunity to discuss the history of Ancient Macedonia and its heritage, the significance of the dispute for the FYR Macedonia's Euroatlantic integrations and what could be common solutions.
