#metoo movement

In line with the #metoo movement, the SAGE group gathered information from College students by way of an online survey and via collection boxes on campus. The main objective was to obtain an insight into the prevalence of gender-based sexual harassment in the College and the suitability of the procedures in place to deal with this.

The SAGE group displayed the results on the Students Affairs Office noticeboard in Dijver. The results were also presented by members of the group at a “launch” event with MEP Edouard MARTIN and his assistant Ms Jeanne PONTÉ, who then discussed the issue of gender-based sexual harassment within the European Parliament.

Ms PONTÉ, an alumna of the College, is one of several female staff members who have spoken out against sexual harassment in the European Parliament. She has been closely supported by Mr MARTIN, who has joined her in campaigning for change. Mr MARTIN has established an S&D working group to ensure the timely and concrete follow-up of the European Parliament resolution on sexual harassment, voted on 26 October 2017.
