Coaching trainers for the National Human Rights Institutes in the Republic of Moldova

As part of the project “Human Rights training for National Human Rights Institutions in the Republic of Moldova”, the College of Europe Development Office is currently coaching and assisting trainers to deliver courses on human rights to local stakeholders.

Through this project, the College of Europe has already delivered training to the staff of the People’s Advocate (Ombudsperson) Office and the Council on the Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality (also known as Equality Council). Subsequently, eleven officials from these institutions, having already followed the majority of the training modules, attended a Training of Trainers course in order to consolidate their technical knowledge and practise the skills needed to train. It is in this way that the sustainability of the project objectives could be guaranteed.

In fact, these officials are currently delivering courses on human rights to various local stakeholders: mass media outlets; local public administrations; staff of penitentiary institutions; civil servants from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education; NGOs; and judiciary assistants. The trainers are supported and coached by their previous trainers from the College of Europe. So far, six two-day courses already took place and three more will roll out in December.

The project is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-funded and implemented by the UNDP Moldova and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), in cooperation with the Ombudsperson Office and Equality Council.
