EU scheme for young professionals in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Second module has come to an end!

EU scheme for young professionals in Bosnia and Herzegovina The College of Europe Development Office is pleased to announce that the second two–week online module of the EU Scheme for Young Professionals in BiH ended on Friday 11 December 2020. It was the second part of a 4-week long training programme with the first module conducted in November 2020. 25 civil servants from Bosnia & Herzegovina who participated in the programme benefited from the 4 weeks of online lectures, workshops, debates and speeches delivered by our trainers and guest experts/officials from European organisations, EU institutions as well as national and local public administrations.

The second part of the programme was focused on Public Administration Reform in the light of the EU Accession Process. In addition to lectures, the participants took part in workshops that helped them to develop soft-skills (people management and change management skills) and to better navigate inside the labyrinth of EU databases/websites and online platforms. Moreover, they had an opportunity to sharpen their policy develop and negotiation skills throughout two simulation games. Additionally, as it was during the first two weeks, the participants benefited also from online meetings, debates and discussion with guest experts/officials. Last but not least, thanks to the less formal cultural component in the programme, our participants managed to have fun all together while following an online guided visit of Bruges as well as participating in a Eurovision karaoke night event.

The programme is still not over yet as the next and final stage will be a study visit to Belgium (Brussels and Bruges) scheduled in 2021. We are looking forward to being able to welcome all our participants here in Bruges.

This represents the continuation of reform initiatives aimed at building the capacity of civil servants that was initiated within the framework of a EU-funded regional programme for the Western Balkans. The College of Europe had been involved in the 2018 and 2019 editions of that regional programme.

The College of Europe is grateful for the cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Directorate for European Integration (DEI) of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office (PARCO) and the British Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina and their trust in the College of Europe to design and implement this training course.

We thank again the participants for their active contribution to the both modules of the training programme!
