European Centre for Government Transformation – Jury Meeting

The participants of the European Centre for Government Transformation project (ECGT), an initiative in public sector reform established by Accenture, the Lisbon Council and the College of Europe, presented the preliminary findings of their case studies in a high-level Jury Meeting in Brussels on 13 February 2018.

Students from the Deppartment of European Political and Governance Studies – divided into teams – presented the preliminary findings in three ongoing state agency transformation case studies. Each of the teams spent several months interacting with a top public service organisation. This year, the agencies to be studied were selected among the winners of the iCapital Award, given by the European Commission’s DG for Research and Innovation.

After carrying out site visits in November 2017, the students presented their recommendations on 13 February 2018 to a high-level jury, chaired by Ms Gertrud INGESTAD, Director-General for Informatics of the European Commission. The three teams had each 10 minutes to present the problems they have analysed and the preliminary recommendations they have reached. The presentations were followed by 15 minutes of discussion. Jury members were encouraged to challenge the students on their assumptions, working methods and preliminary conclusions.

In 2017-2018, the case study topics and clients included:

  • Users’ engagement stragegy: Eindhoven City Council
