Online Diplomatic courses in Costa Rica in September 2020

The College of Europe Development Office organized, on 17, 18, 24 and 25 September 2020, a series of online courses for Diplomats from Costa Rica of the Instituto Diplomático “Manuel María Peralta” in the framework of the EU-funded project "Policy and Outreach Partnership – Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean" led by Equinoccio.

The training sessions were launched with a high-level speech by Ms Antonia CALVO, EU Ambassador at the EU Delegation to Costa Rica, followed by opening remarks by Mr Jorge SAÉNZ CARBONELL, Ambassador and Director of the Diplomatic Academy and Mr Olivier COSTA, Director of the Department of European Political and Governance Studies at the College.

The trainers were Ms Carme COLOMINA, who taught an online session on the EU institutions, the EU’s competencies and the Von der Leyen Commission priorities in times of Covid-19, and Mr Ignacio MOLINA, who led sessions on the EU’s external policies, relations with foreign powers and a focus on Latin America, introducing the Agreement with Central America. The EU Delegation, represented by the Head of the Political Section, Ms Katja DE SADELEER, the Trade Regional Officer, Mr Massimo DE LUCA, and the Vice-minister and representing the Ministry of External Relations of Costa Rica, Ms Adriana SOLANO, continued in presenting in detail the Agreement and the trade relations between the country and the European Union.
