On Monday 23 October 2017, the Natolin campus of the College of Europe organized a public debate in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw entitled: "A Wider Europe? Debate on Identities and Values between the EU and its Neighbours". The debate was live-streamed and the video will soon be available on our Youtube channel.

The members of the student panel representing countries of the European Union and the European Neighbourhood were: Eléonore GARNIER, Albert HAYRAPETYAN, Mikkel KELSTRUP, Anna SIWIERSKA, Laura WHETHERLY and Eya YOUNSI. The debate, organized by the European Civilization Chair and the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair was moderated by Professor Richard BUTTERWICK-PAWLIKOWSKI and Professor Tobias SCHUMACHER.

This debate explored the diversity of identities and values in the shared spaces between the European Union and its neighbours. It focused not merely on the "export" of "European standards" to neighbouring countries in North Africa, the Middle East, the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, and the western Balkans, but ventures into shared civilizational heritages, overlapping identities and values, and neighbours' expectations of the EU. In sum it was intended to inspire a broader and a longer view of "Europe".
