The European Union and Turkey: Ready for One Another? Conference on September 16th, 17-19h in the Retinger Auditorium on the Natolin (Warsaw) Campus.

On the eve of the opening of the negotiations between these two parties, as the British presidency pledged to actually realize, this conference will reflect upon the perspective of an enlargement of the European Union to Turkey. Yet, instead of resuming the eternal debate over the Europeanness of Turkey or the benefits and costs of enlargements in general and this one in particular, we would prefer to focus on the changing patterns of societies and political behaviors, and on the mental and social aspects of a prospective enlargement, that is for Turkey in respect to most of the Western European social and cultural standards.
