Rector MOGHERINI participates in the Women of Europe Awards Ceremony 2021

On Wednesday, 1 December 2021, Rector Mogherini participated in the online Women of Europe Awards, organised by the European International Movement and the European Women's Lobby. 

The awards are handed out annually to honour women striving to advance the European project in their professional or private capacity. The awards highlight the contribution of women in promoting and advancing European issues, and to increase the presence and involvement of women in debates about Europe and its future.

Rector Mogherini, a 2017 Women of Europe Award winner, served as a jury member for the 2021 edition and had the honor of announcing this year's winner of the Women in Business category.

The 2021 winners in each category:

Woman in Power Award: Angela Merkel - Chancellor of Germany 
Woman in Action Award: Jenny Rasche - Founder and Chairwomen, Kinderhilfe für Siebenbürgen
Woman in Business Award: Prof. Özlem Türeci - Physician, Scientist, and Entrepreneur, BioNTech
Woman in Youth Activism Award: Greta Thunberg - Climate Change Activist, Fridays for Future 

During her introductory remarks, the Rector said “I would like to celebrate the power of the role models that these women represent. These women, and the women represented by them, are the backbone of our societies and inspire so many other women with their daily work.”
