Nils Bjorksten is a policy economist with wide ranging experience in policy analysis, research and evaluation. His career spans the European Commission, US Congressional Research Service, U.S. Treasury, International Monetary Fund, national central banks of Finland and New Zealand, and the OECD. He was a Senior Executive Fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in 2010. He has also held academic appointments at Central European University and George Mason University. From 2016 to 2020 he was a member of the European Commission’s Regulatory Scrutiny Board, the independent body that scrutinises evaluations and impact assessments on EU policies and programmes. He holds a PhD in economics from Michigan State University.
