Position

The Library and Information Officer will offer research guidance and support to the students and academic assistants of the study department “Master of Arts in European Transformation and Integration – The EU and Southeastern Europe” (ETI), purchase and catalogue resources in the library management system, organise information sessions on the use of the library catalogue, e-resources and referencing tools, plan activities such as book presentations or lectures. 

In addition, there will be a particular focus on document management (50%). The selected candidate will advise, support and train all administrative and academic staff in records and information management in strict accordance with College standards and regulations and in cooperation with the Information officer in the Bruges campus.

The Role

Based in Tirana, the Library and Information Officer will be working under the Head of Administration, while also engaging in consultation with the Library Director and the Information Officer in Bruges.

The main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Retrieve and deliver research materials for students and academic staff, ensuring timely and accurate document delivery;
  • Monitor lending activities;
  • Select, purchase and catalogue books and library materials;
  • Provide administrative and organisational support and assist in ensuring smooth daily operations;
  • Organise events and information sessions, both on e-resources and efficient document management;
  • Collect feedback and conduct surveys;
  • Promote the library services via various channels such as intranet, website, social media;
  • Record, track and monitor documents, from their creation to eventual disposal;
  • Provide archival descriptions of files in accordance with international standards;
  • Maintain an organised filing system;
  • Implement document management policies and retention schedules;
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliant use of data;
  • Build expertise and follow current developments in related fields.

Your Profile

For the position of Library and Information Officer, the College is looking for candidates with:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in Archival Studies or Library Science;
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in library and/or information science;
  • Preferably, a good understanding of the higher education systems in Albania and/or the Western Balkans region and EU enlargement;
  • Strong communication and drafting skills;
  • Strong digital skills (including MS Office 365), some familiarity with bibliographic databases and metadata;
  • Analytical and organizational skills;
  • Fluency in English (active) and French (passive) is essential, and knowledge of Albanian is an asset;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively and interact effectively with staff and students;
  • A work ethic, characterized by flexibility, reliability, and discretion in managing sensitive information.
