The inaugural roundtable of the Chair of Transatlantic Trade and Economy brought together leading experts, policymakers, and private sector actors to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping transatlantic cooperation on trade and technology. Held under the theme“Transatlantic Cooperation on Trade and Technology in a Time of Risk: What Now, What Next?”, the discussion focused on how Europe and North America can respond to an increasingly complex economic and geopolitical environment.
The conversation featured Jacob Funk Kirkegaard, Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund and the Peterson Institute for International Economics, and Heather Grabbe, Senior Fellow at Bruegel. Drawing on their expertise in international economics, technology policy, and transatlantic relations, the speakers explored the evolving trade and technology agenda and the factors likely to shape cooperation in the years ahead.
Moderated by Ian Lesser, Chair of Transatlantic Trade and Economy, and introduced by Esa Kaunistola, Director for Trade and Industrial Policy at Microsoft, the roundtable fostered an active exchange among experts and young professionals working on transatlantic economic issues.
