Following opening remarks by Rector Federica Mogherini, the discussion was moderated by Dr. Michele Chang (MATA Director) and featured contributions from Dr. Benedetta Berti, Director of Policy Planning, NATO; Dr. Joel Trachtman, Professor of International Law, The Fletcher School; and Dr. Ian Lesser, Chair in Transatlantic Trade and Economy. The panel examined both the structural foundations and immediate political challenges shaping transatlantic cooperation. Speakers explored the strategic importance of the transatlantic partnership, the potential implications of elections in the United States and Europe, the rise of economic nationalism, evolving defence requirements, and the need for closer regulatory cooperation. The discussion also highlighted the importance of sustained European engagement with the United States at a time of geopolitical and economic uncertainty. 

A lively exchange with students, faculty and guests extended the conversation beyond the panel itself, demonstrating the importance of open dialogue on the political, economic and security issues that continue to shape relations between Europe and North America.
