Laura Parret is a lawyer with a vast experience in EU law in various capacities.  From 2007 until 2013 she was a chamber president in the Belgian Competition Council. Before that, she was a practising lawyer since 1993 and after her mandate at the Council she returned to private practice at Houthoff, where she was a partner from 2015 to 2018. As of September 2018, Laura works at the EU Court of Justice as a lawyer-linguist. She has also pursued an academic career, first as a lecturer and researcher at the department of European and International Public Law of Tilburg University and a member of TILEC (Tilburg Law and Economics Center) from 1997 until 2013. She obtained a PhD in 2010. She has spoken and published extensively in the broad area of EU law, competition law and state aid law with a specific interest for procedural aspects and the interaction between various areas of EU law. As of 2015 she holds a chair entitles “State aid in the EU legal order” at Utrecht University.
