Nationalstaat und Europäische Union

Synopsis

This Festschrift in honour of Joachim Jens Hesse, one of his generation’s most important and influential political and administrative scientists, compiles an illustrious group of scholars (in law, economics and the social sciences) for an analysis of the prevailing and still precarious relationship between “Nationalstaat und Europäischer Union”. In 20 contributions, the topic is being systematically discussed, paving the way towards options in coping with the multiple domestic and European crises. The book is divided into four chapters: historical approaches; crises and their consequences; institutions, actors and policies; options and courses of action. Most contributions were first presented at a colloquium entitled “Nation State and the European Union”, held in honour of Joachim Jens Hesse at Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg.
