On Wednesday 25 June 2014, the European Commission and the College of Europe signed a Memorandum of Understanding aiming at reinforcing the cooperation between the European Commission’s Directorate General for Energy and the ALCOA Foundation Chair of EU Energy Policy of the College of Europe.

The memorandum provides that the European Commission and the College of Europe will strengthen their cooperation to promote an economically, politically and legally sound European energy policy. This entails the production of analyses, studies and policy papers, the invitation of the College of Europe to energy-related events organized by the European Commission, and vice-versa, as a well as joint activities, such as research seminars and high level roundtables. This memorandum also provides for a greater interaction with the students of the College of Europe, notably via the College of Europe students’ energy group.

The protocole was signed by Dominique RISTORI, Director-General of DG Energy, and Jörg MONAR, Rector of the College of Europe, in the presence of Günther OETTINGER, European Commissioner for energy, and other participants including Pascal Lamy, Jerzy Buzek and Sami Andoura as the holder of the ALCOA Foundation Chair of EU Energy Policy of the College of Europe.
