Sebastian SANTANDER

Professor Santander is in charge of the Center for International Relations Studies (CEFIR) at the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Criminology from the University of Liège where he teaches as a full-time Professor. After getting his PhD at the Université libre de Bruxelles, he worked as a Postdoc at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in Maastricht University. He is currently Associate member of the Institute of European Studies at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and Associate member of the Centre d’études sur l’intégration et la mondialisation (CEIM) at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).

His fields of interets cover power construction of emerging countries and global political governance: self-perception, international recognition and capabilities ; regionalism, interregionalism in world politics and the international diffusion of supranational norms (European regionalism (EU as an international actor), US regionalism and Latin American regionalism (Mercosur, ALBA, Pacific Allliance) ) ; Latin America in world politics and the foreign policy of the United States and emerging powers (Brazil).
