On 26-27 October 2007, the Department organised an international workshop on US and EU Perspectives on Global Issues: Transatlantic Relations in Transition?, supported by a grant awarded by the GE Foundation. In four sessions, participants assessed the current state of the transatlantic relationship from a political and an economic point of view. The political challenges to the Atlantic Alliance, the role of NATO for the transatlantic relationship, the political economy of transatlantic relations as well as transatlantic perspectives on the international financial architecture were discussed during the two days. The speakers included leading experts from the US and European side, including scholars and practitioners.
