Beginning 22 March 2023, the College of Europe in Natolin hosted a series of events related to - and culminating with - the Italian National Day on Friday, 24 March. The three days of events were filled with a range of cultural activities that brought together students and guests to commemorate the occasion.
The programme kicked off on Wednesday with a conference by Prof. Amedeo ARENA, Full Professor of European Union Law at the University of Naples "Federico II", entitled How EU Law became Supreme: the making of Costa v. ENEL, wherein Prof. ARENA discussed the legal case that marked a turning point in the European integration process.
Thursday was dedicated to Italian cinema, featuring three Italian movies that were screened in the evening. On Friday, the programme started with the conference Ferrero, a family business with a global perspective. This conference by Ms Beata DZIEKANOWSKA explained the story of the Italian firm with international presence and included a degustation of Ferrero products. Following this first activity, there was a workshop led by Ms Cristina CATESE, who discussed the unique aspects of Italian cuisine.
The programme continued with a dinner event in the Natolin Winter Garden organized by the Natolin Restaurant, where the students from both Natolin and Bruges campuses enjoyed Italian delicacies. The evening continued with an Aperitivo Italiano and an Ambassador's toast with the Ambassador of Italy to Poland, Mr Luca FRANCHETTI PARDO. The evening then evolved into an Italian night, which featured the game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire, video screenings, and a performance by the folk group Gruppo Ortensia.
The Italian National Day celebrations at the College of Europe in Natolin were a great success, and the programme highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Italy. The event was a true reflection of the College of Europe's mission to promote cultural exchange and understanding among students and the wider community.
