Last weekend the students of the College of Europe in Natolin celebrated the Mediterranean Basin Regional Day.
Thanks to the amazing work of the Albanian, Italian and Turkish students, the Mediterranean Basin Regional Day became an event for the celebration of diversity and at the same time the similarity of cultures. The students shared not only their traditional cuisines and enjoyed traditional songs, but they also discussed customs, ideas, social habits, languages and the pop culture.
The schedule of activities started on Friday with the Albanian photo exhibition of Marubi and an amazing performance by the Natolin Choir. The Natolin Restaurant prepared a traditional Albanian-Turkish lunch featuring main typical dishes like cheese burek (cheese pie), İçlİ köfte (minced meat stuffing covered with bulgur crust) and delicious baklava. For dinner, the Natolin students enjoyed several famous Italian dishes such as bucatini all'amatriciana.
The long weekend programme continued Saturday with a high-level talk with H.E. Ambassador Faruk KAYMAKCI, Turkish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs. The students had the opportunity to exchange and discuss with Ambassador KAYMAKCI the EU-Turkey border cooperation and migration policy.
The Albanian, Italian and Turkish Ambassadors to Poland also contributed to the Mediterranean Basin Regional Day with a recorded video. We would like to thank H.E. Ambassador Shpresa KURETA, H.E. Ambassador Aldo AMATI and H.E. Ambassador Tunç ÜĞDÜL for their kind participation to the Regional Day.
Finally, the Mediterranean Basin Regional Day was concluded, on Sunday evening, with the screening of the Kosovar movie “Shok”.
The activities were organized following all COVID-19 regulations and sanitary measures enacted by the local laws, as well as the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
