Virtual Dutch National Day at Natolin

The Dutch National Day was supposed to take place on Monday 27 April, on which, in accordance with Dutch tradition, the King’s birthday is celebrated in the Netherlands.

Nothing could have prevented our students from the Netherlands from sharing bits and pieces of their culture on that day, so they carefully prepared a programme of digital activities for the whole Natolin community.

The first recommendation was to start the day by cycling around the beautiful Natolin campus while paying attention to all its sounds and colours — even though there would be no tulips to be admired! Next came an invitation for everyone to immerse themselves in Dutch art and painting by visiting museum exhibitions online, and later learn some Dutch with a special homemade video lesson. To finish with a flourish, the Dutch students shared the recipe of a traditional King’s Day dinner, and made available a playlist of Dutch music typical for this occasion.
