As announced before, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the College of Europe Development Office decided to move online first with its tailor-made courses, followed by its executive training courses taking place this summer. On 18 June 2020, the two Deputy Directors of the Development Office, Ms Claire LAWRENCE and Mr Cesare ZEGRETTI, provided more information during an interview. They discussed why the training offer moved online, the accompanying challenges and opportunities, and how the team implemented the change in format on such short notice.
The decision was difficult to make because most of the training courses normally take place in a face-to-face format and participants come to Bruges from all over Europe to experience the Esprit du Collège. This is why, when selecting the online tools and methodologies, the team created a learning environment very similar to the one participants would experience when coming to Bruges.
