Rasmus Brun Pedersen (PhD) is Associate Professor in International Relations at the Department of Political Science, Aarhus University. His research focuses on foreign and security policy and on the development of qualitative research methods. Some of his recent research concerns small states’ decision to join international interventions, in particular how small states interact with great powers and how their active engagement in coalitions and organization served defensive protection motives as well as motives to improve their position in the international hierarchy of small states. His work on research methods has focused specifically on the development of process tracing methodology and case study research. He has extensive teaching experience in FPA and IR courses as well as courses on research methodology.

His work is published with the University of Michigan Press, Palgrave Macmillan and in journals such as International Relations, European Security, Cooperation and Conflict, Sociological Research Methods, Cold War History, Journal of Legislative Studies, International Peacekeeping, Scandinavian Journal of History, Scandinavian Political Studies.
