Dr Andriy TYUSHKA, Senior Research Fellow in the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair at the College of Europe in Natolin, has just published a co-authored (with Prof. Tracey GERMAN from the Defence Studies Department at the King’s College London) study titled ‘Security Challenges at the EU’s Eastern Border: Which Role for CSDP?’.

This In-Depth Analysis (IDA) examines the nature and scope of enduring and emerging threats to the security of the EU and its Member States, and the challenges to its Eastern Partnership policy, from both the EaP’s protracted conflicts and instability in Belarus. It assesses the EU’s engagement with these conflicts and addresses the potential role of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), including (but not solely) missions and operations. Finally, it explores potential avenues for future cooperation between the EU and its EaP partners on security and defence (including under the PESCO+, EPF, and EDF frameworks).

This IDA was commissioned by the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Security and Defence, and can be consulted here.
