College of Europe at the EU-Western Balkans Summit

On Wednesday, 13th December, Rector Federica Mogherini and a Delegation from the College of Europe in Bruges were invited to join the EU-Western Balkans Summit at the Council of the European Union.

As we’re preparing to start academic activities in our new campus in Tirana, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, called on EU Member States to pledge scholarships to the College. We were happy to see that twenty-one Member States pledged scholarships.

Our Albanian-Belgian alumna, Iris Ketels, and our Albanian-Greek student from the current Madeleine Albright Promotion, Katerina Juba, had the chance to take a photo with the leaders of the countries attending the Summit, and Rector Mogherini thanked the EU Institutions, Member States and Western Balkans partners for their continuous support.

"Thanks to these pledges, I believe that all the students who will be admitted to our Campus in Tirana will benefit from a scholarship. Today, we’re investing in the next generation that will make the integration of the Western Balkans in the EU a reality.” - Rector Federica Mogherini.
