The College of Europe launches the call for applications for the sixth El-Hiwar Summer School on Euro-Arab Relations: “Peace Mediation and Conflict Prevention in Euro-Arab Cooperation”.

The College of Europe, implementing the EU-funded project El-Hiwar III, is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2026 El-Hiwar Summer School on Euro-Arab Relations. The Summer School will take place from 31 August to 4 September 2026 in Bruges and will include a study visit to Brussels.

This edition will focus on peace mediation and conflict prevention, in light of ongoing regional and international challenges and the shared EU–LAS commitment to stability, dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.

Participants will deepen their understanding of Euro-Arab relations and explore how EU–LAS cooperation can contribute to effective mediation and sustainable peacebuilding. The programme will combine theoretical insights with practical skills development through:

  • Live interactive lectures delivered by senior practitioners and experts
  • Skills-oriented workshops on mediation, negotiation and cross-cultural communication
  • A study visit to EU institutions and Brussels-based organisations active in peacebuilding
  • “Ideas Lab” sessions fostering collaborative reflection on concrete policy proposals
  • Networking and social activities to strengthen the Euro-Arab community of practice

Applications close on 20 May 2026 (23:59 Brussels time).
