The Diplomatic Training in Chile, organised by the College of Europe from 4th to 8th October, brought together future Chilean diplomats with counterparts from Brazil, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Uruguay.
This 4th edition at the Diplomatic Academy of Chile, part of the ongoing project "EU Policy and Outreach Partnership in South America - Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile" has been developed in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to Chile and in consortium with the OEI – Organization of Ibero-American States. It complements the dialogue between the European Union, Chile and Latin America, contributing to the strengthening of multilateral links.
EU Institutions, Commission Priorities, Trade Policy and Environmental Strategies are analysed by students, who also participate in a practical simulation of the EU's complex decision-making mechanisms. The European Union's foreign policy is also addressed, reflecting the EU's contribution to key issues of global governance and, in particular, the regional dimension of Latin America. This includes the update of the EU-Chile Association Agreement.
This has been an exceptional opportunity for participants not only to get to know the EU institutionally or its external and trade relations, but also to share best practices in addressing challenges such as climate change, the fight against inequality and economic transformation.
This activity took place in the framework of the EU-funded project "EU Policy and Outreach Partnership in South America - Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile". The College of Europe is a partner of the Consortium implementing the project under the leadership of the Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos.
