On 22 February 2023, Prof. Dr. Carol COSGROVE-SACKS, who will be appointed as Honorary Professor, will give a keynote lecture on "THE EU, DIGITALISATION AND GLOBAL IMPACT".
Prof. COSGROVE-SACKS will walk us through her reflections on the external implications of the EU's Digitalisation Strategy and the emergence of EU Digital Diplomacy. Taking a pluri-disciplinary perspective, she will look at Trade & Tech, Digital for Development, Humanitarian Affairs and the challenges of integrating Digitalisation and Diplomacy.
CAROL COSGROVE-SACKS is a policy advisor and economist specializing in EU trade and development issues, international economic negotiations, and the global digital economy. She was also a visiting Professor at the College of Europe 1990-2020, teaching an interdisciplinary course on Globalisation, the EU & Developing Countries.
- 1994 to 2005, she was a senior United Nations official: Director of Trade & Regulatory Affairs in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva. 2006-2022, Senior Advisor on International Standards Policy to OASIS, the global internet standards consortium, and founder member of the high-level EU advisory group: the Multistakeholder Platform on ICT Standards (MSP).
- 2006 to 2016, Director of the Ethics in Finance-Robin Cosgrove Prize, now the global Ethics & Trust in Finance Prize (Geneva).
- She has published 14 books on international economic issues and is a British/Swiss national living in Geneva.
