Europe Day marks anniversary of historic Schuman declaration

On Monday the 9th of May we celebrated Europe Day. This date marks the anniversary of the historic declaration made by Robert Schuman in which he explained the idea of a new form of political cooperation in Europe that would avoid any war between European nations. This date is considered as the date of birth of the European Union. More than ever we should celebrate that unity.

"Pour que la paix puisse vraiment courir sa chance, il faut, d'abord, qu'il y ait une Europe." - Robert Schuman, le 9 mai 1950.

In the run-up to Europe Day, a group of four journalism students of Howest College visited our Bruges campus to interview students of the Éliane Vogel-Polsky Promotion and staff members of the College in the framework of a video project on a 'Stronger Europe in the World' for the regional television broadcast of West Flanders Focus-WTV. You can watch the video HERE.
