Dear College Community,
Solidoares organized — in cooperation with the Belgian Red Cross — the big College of Europe BLOOD PLASMA DONATION MONTH. As you are probably well aware blood banks worldwide struggle with a dramatic decrease of donation numbers due to the current pandemic. The Belgian Red Cross is currently in need for blood plasma donations. So now it is your time to make a real difference!
What are blood plasma donations? How do they work?
Blood plasma donations work the same way as blood donations, despite that the blood cells and platelets after the plasma is separated from it, are filtered back into your body.

When?
Appointments will be made between the 15/03 and 25/03, Registration closes at 07/03
Where?
In the Blood Donation Centre close to the Bruges train station (Stationsplein 10, 8000 Brugge)
How can you participate?
- Check whether you are eligible for Blood plasma donations!
- Fill in this Google form until the 7 March and we will take care of booking appointments (you will be able to chose dates from a list) – either for you or in groups of up to 4 persons in case you want to go there with your friends #espritdecollège OR;
Book your appointment directly with the Belgian Red Cross here
And the most important thing: Don’t forget to put ‘ColEurope’ in the Comment section! Only then we will be able to track the amount of donations on behalf of the College.
But where is the fun?
To make it a little bit more fun and boost the spirit of inter-residence competition, we decided to add a little gamification element. After your donation, send us a proof that you have been donating plasma together with the name of your residence to charitygroup@coleurope.eu . The residence with the highest percentage of donors (relative to the number of inhabitants – no worries Sint Jorris) will win a surprise!
