What?
How can you teach the European Union in an attractive and concrete way? During these instructive workshops we will work on stories based on EU legal cases. You will learn how to deal with storytelling and European Union case education: an innovative and fascinating method for teachers and future teachers in training which is applicable in many different fields of expertise including specific examples and practical cases. The goal of EU case education is to create a more profound understanding on the very DNA of the European Union based on the stories and testimonials of people and to reflect in an open-minded and critical way.
Guest speakers:
- Prof. Dr. Sacha GARBEN, Permanent Professor of EU law at the Legal Studies Department of the College of Europe.
- Prof. Dr. Griet GALLE, part-time lecturer at the Higher Institute of Philosophy at KU Leuven.
- Dr. Kris GRIMONPREZ, affiliated Senior Researcher at the Public Law Research Unit at KU Leuven.
This workshop is an initiative of the Erasmus+ project Case4EU of the KU Leuven and is organized in the province of West Flanders in association with the College of Europe Bruges Campus and Europe Direct West Flanders.
Wat?
Hoe kan je als leerkracht lesgeven over de EU op een aantrekkelijke en concrete manier? In deze workshops gaan we aan de slag met verhalen gebaseerd op EU-rechtszaken. Je leert er werken met storytelling en EU-casusonderwijs: een innovatieve en boeiende methode voor leerkrachten en aspirant leerkrachten, toepasbaar in vele vakdomeinen en toegelicht met concrete voorbeelden. Het doel van EU–casusonderwijs is om het DNA van de EU te leren kennen door verhalen van mensen (niet door een beschrijving van EU-instellingen) en om er kritisch over na te denken.

- Prof. Dr. Sacha GARBEN, professor aan het Europacollege.
- Prof. Dr. Griet GALLE, deeltijds docent aan het Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte en coördinator voor filosofie binnen de Educatieve master maatschappijwetenschappen aan de KU Leuven.
- Dr. Kris GRIMONPREZ, affiliated senior researcher aan de Faculteit Rechtsgeleerdheid KU Leuven.
