ANGHEL Veronica & JONES Erik - Beyond Borders: EU Enlargement and Europes Geopolitical Turn (25h)

Academic Assistant: Harm  VAN DE PLASSCHE

The course examines EU enlargement not only as a technocratic process of rule transfer, but as a geopolitical project reshaping Europe’s security order, integration mechanisms, and global role. It situates enlargement in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war and broader world order shifts,  and considers the EU’s struggle to reconcile domestic politics with security imperatives. The academic disciplines intersected are political science, political economy, international relations, and public policy. The target audience are students interested in EU affairs, lobbying, consultancy, and public policy.
