Gas Markets: state of play and challenges ahead

Last Friday, the Energy Group of the College of Europe organized its first event of the year on the state of play and challenges ahead of gas markets.

It was a pleasure to welcome Miguel Gil Tertre - Chief Economist of DG ENER at the EuropeanGas Markets Commission - Greg Molnár -Gas Analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA) - and Thijs Vandenbussche- Climate and Energy Policy Analyst at the European Policy Centre.

We discussed the factors that had contributed to the “perfect storm” of high energy prices and possible solutions such as revenue cap on inframarginal rents, minimum storage filling levels, or energy efficiency measures. We also touched upon the impacts of the energy crisis on food production or the green transition.

The event was followed by a small reception.
