Great performance of College students at the London International Model United Nations

On 23-25 February 2024, a multinational group of 12 students from the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies successfully represented the College of Europe at the 25th edition of the London International Model United Nations conference (LIMUN). Several months of preparation for this activity, supported by two Academic Assistants, culminated in a great performance by the students who took part in researching different topics, drafting position papers and resolutions as well as negotiating with other delegates from all over the world on the premises of King’s College London.

The delegation from Bruges, comprised of Gizem BAYGÜN (TK) representing China at the World Health Organisation (WHO), Theodora CHRISTODOULOU (GR) representing Italy at the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM), Liselotte DUBOIS (FR) representing Germany at the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Taymour ELMASRY (IT/UK) representing Iran at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Victor HELLGREN (SE/DE) representing Costa Rica at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Leire LOPEZ DE GOICOECHEA (ES) representing New Zealand at the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), Petar MRDOVIĆ (SI) representing the Dominican Republic at the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), Kate O'RIORDAN (IE) and Maria Elena TSITSILONI (GR) representing together Iraq at the Historical Security Council (HSC), Youssef RAMADAN (EG) representing Bangladesh at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Javier RODRÍGUEZ MARTÍN (ES) representing Belgium at the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL), and Felipe SERPA ARANGO (AT) representing Lithuania at the European Council (EC), made an outstanding impression, also thanks to the great team spirit during the whole endeavour.
